A fridge is a pivotal part of any caravanning journey.
Ensuring your food and drinks remain cold and fresh throughout the trip will give you peace of mind whenever you need a quick bite.
But first, you need to know how to operate the different functions in your fridge to get the most out of it.
Whether you want to cook a delicious meal or enjoy a cold drink after a long day out exploring, this guide is for you.
Dometic fridges are extremely versatile, equipped with various features and functions to make life on the road much easier for you and your family.
These fridges use an absorption cooling process, meaning they can withstand movement on the road without damaging your goods.
In this video, Chris will be demonstrating how to use the Dometic 217L 2-door fridge fitted in a 24.75-4 Silverline Outback caravan.
These instructions are applicable to Jayco Silverline and Optimum Motorhomes.
Step-by-step guide to using the Dometic 217L fridge:
Step 1
Get familiar with your fridge.
This large unit includes a spacious freezer with plenty of storage and a shelf to separate your items.
The fridge component includes several compartments and a drawer to store your fresh fruit and vegetables. An internal LED light is also fitted in this section.
Step 2
To begin operating your fridge, hold down the rotary dial at the front until the screen lights up.
Step 3
At the top of the screen, you will see the temperature control function.
This is currently on automatic mode.
To set the temperature, press the rotary dial to select the function.
Twist the dial to select your preferred temperature.
Once this is completed, press the rotary dial again to return to the homepage.
Step 4
Given that this fridge is an AES (Auto Energy Select) device, it includes several energy modes.
It can operate on 12V, 240V battery or gas.
This fridge will only operate on 12V when you are connected to a car, meaning it won’t function through your house battery.
Step 5
To select your power mode, twist the dial to illuminate the power function.
Press the dial to select it.
Step 6
The power options will be displayed across the screen.
Simply twist the dial to select either 12V, 240V battery or gas.
We recommend using your fridge in automatic mode.
Step 7
Press the dial to select your mode.
Scroll down to the back button and press the dial again to return to your homepage.
