A guide to your Jayco RV: How to use the Thetford N-Series fridge

22nd Sep 2021

A fridge is an important part of any caravanning journey.

Using the fridge in your vehicle ensures your food and drinks remain fresh throughout the trip.

To cook a delicious meal and enjoy a cold drink after a long day of exploring, you’ll have to know how to operate your fridge.

The fridges fitted in a Jayco RV are extremely versatile and make life on the road much easier for you and your family.

These fridges are also equipped to withstand bumps and movement on the road without causing any damage to your goods. This is because they use an absorption cooling process.

In the following video, Chris will be demonstrating how to use the fridge fitted in a Jayco Journey Outback 19.61-3 Caravan.

These instructions are applicable to Journey Caravans, All Terrain Caravans, Expanda Caravans, Work’N’Play Caravans and Basestation Caravans.

Step-by-step guide to using the fridge

Step 1

Get familiar with the fridge.

This specific model is fitted with a 2-door Thetford fridge and freezer.

It’s a 3-way fridge, which means it can run on gas, 240 volts or 12 volts from your tow vehicle.

As an AES fridge, it also automatically selects the suitable power source from what you have available.

Step 2

To turn your fridge on, click the ‘ON’ button on the far-left side.

This will illuminate the touch screen control panel on the fridge.

Step 3

The first dial on the left of the control panel will display the power options.

To let your fridge automatically select its power source, put the setting on ‘A’.

If you would like to choose the energy source, you can do so by selecting the gas, 240v or 12v buttons.

Step 4

To control the temperate in your fridge, you can do so through the bar graph displayed in the middle of the control panel.

Placing this on its maximum setting will put the fridge into defrost mode.

We would recommend setting your temperature, putting your fridge on automatic and letting it do the work for you.
