A weekend escape in Victoria

10th Nov 2020

Make the most of your weekend with this little getaway to the beautiful beaches of Lorne and Apollo Bay.

For the ultimate weekender, start your trip by heading 142 kms to Lorne. A little over an hour into your drive, call into the Mt Duneed Estate for lunch then head down to the Anglesea Lookout Nature Reserve.

Lorne is the perfect getaway destination, offering stunning beaches, sparkling waters and is located close to the Great Otway National Park. Make sure you pack your surfboard for some fun on the water before visiting ochre cliffs at Bells Beach.

Day 2 – Lorne to Apollo Bay

Next up, cruise along the coast for 45 kms till you reach Apollo Bay. Hit the waves with your surfboard or kayak before wandering the coast and exploring the rainforests.

The regular Saturday foreshore market is certainly a highlight worth checking out. We also recommend unhooking your car for a 30-minute drive down to Cape Otway to check out the light house and some breathtaking views.

Day 3 – Apollo Bay to Melbourne

The scenic drive back to Melbourne is 197 kms, past the Otway Forest Park and through some delightful towns such as Forrest and Winchelsea.
