Must try coffee spots along the East Coast

23rd Mar 2021

Are you road tripping from Victoria to New South Wales or visa versa? As any good traveller will tell you, knowing the good spots on your journey to break up the long drives and ‘camp life’ to enjoy a fine barista made coffee is a real treat and valuable knowledge.

Here are some top coffee places on the East Coast between Melbourne (arguably Australia’s coffee capital) and Sydney, Australia’s beautiful Harbour City.

Bloody Good Coffee, 309 Esplanade Lakes Entrance, Victoria

Bloody Good Coffee boasts consistent four-star ratings on Trip Advisor. Having a name like it does makes a very bold claim, but judging from their reviews, they back it up with great service of delicious coffee and yummy food

Origami Coffee, 19 Dorron Ave Mallacoota, Victoria

The rise of ‘coffee carts’ and ‘food truck coffee vans’ brings the joys of quality coffee from real Italian espresso machines to more and more people outside the inner city ‘coffee belt’. We’ve also seen many small sheds being ‘repurposed’ as small coffee shops in towns and holiday areas. Origami Coffee is one of those gems in the beautiful seaside town of Mallacoota. It’s a favourite coffee spot of the locals and holiday makers in the know. Google gives them 5 stars and as one satisfied customer put it, “Best coffee! Equally as good if not better than any coffee I’ve had in Melbourne or Sydney.”

Beach Bar Kiosk, Lake Street Merimbula, NSW

With great views of the beach and inlet to the Merimbula lake PLUS great coffee, what’s not to love? The Beach Bar Kiosk is the perfect spot to chill and take in the scenery. Their breakfast and lunch menu are a delicious selection of tastiness and the location is excellent!

La Gallette, 266 Corkhill Drive Tilba Tilba, NSW

Just a short detour off the Princes Highway between Cobargo and Narooma is the pretty little historic town of Tilba Tilba. Just before you get into the main part of town with its ‘step back in time’ main street, is the very French La Gallette. They serve scrumptious sweets, savoury crepes and really good coffee. This is a great stop to refresh and enjoy some French treats before a wander into the main town for a look around.

The Venetian Café, 3/32 Orient St Batemans Bay, NSW

A genuine boutique Italian coffee house which is more than just a café, they roast their own coffee producing a fantastic single origin coffee or their own special blend. This place is heaven for coffee lovers right in the heart of Batemans Bay.
