The Ultimate Rock Playlist for Your Next Road Trip

Tips & Guides

Touring the open road is made all the more enjoyable with a great soundtrack.

Connecting a song with an experience is a great way to instantly take you back, no matter where you are. There is nothing better than hearing a song and being taken back to a time when you were camping and enjoying life around the camp fire – it reminds us of what is important in life and the value of getting away from it all.

To help inspire your next road trip playlist, we’ve asked one of our Friends of Jayco (who also happens to be one of Australia’s best guitarists) Phil Ceberano, for the ultimate rock soundtrack:

  1. Great Southern Land – Ice House
  2. Burn for you – INXS
  3. Just Like Firewood – Chris Bailey
  4. Solid Rock – Goanna
  5. Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey
  6. Sounds of Then – Ganga Jang
  7. Flame Trees – Cold Chisel
  8. Look after Yourself – Stars
  9. Way out West – The Dingoes
  10. Down under – Men at Work
  11. To Her Door – Paul Kelly
  12. No Second Prize – Jimmy Barnes
  13. Deep Water – Richard Clapton
  14. Horses – Daryl Braithwaite
  15. Highway to Hell – AC/DC
  16. Hotel California – Eagles
  17. Born in the USA – Bruce Springsteen
  18. Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynrd
  19. Sweet Child of Mine – Guns N’ Roses
  20. We Will Rock You – Queen
  21. You’re the Voice – John Farnham
  22. Born to be Wild – Steppenwolf
  23. My Happiness – Powderfinger
  24. Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
  25. Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin
  26. Wonderwall – Oasis
  27. Livin’ On a Prayer – Bon Jovi
  28. Paranoid – Black Sabbath
  29. Enter Sandman – Metallica
  30. Black Betty – Ram Jam

When it comes to creating a great playlist, here are Phil’s top tips:

  • Put together playlists for different times on the road. Some ideas for these playlists might be; on the road, chilling by the fire, beach hang and campsite BBQ’s
  • Create different playlists for different genres, like rock, pop, chill vibes and country
  • Aim of a range of artists on each playlist – don’t just stick to one artist. Hop on YouTube and look for like-minded artists to build out your playlist
  • If you’re using Spotify, make sure you think about the order as this can have a huge impact on the vibe and mood. If you’re going to use shuffle, ensure all the tracks are a similar. If you are going to play it from the beginning, ensure you start off with the slower or ‘easy going’ tracks before finishing on the well-known ones.
